Engineer It! Exploring Ancient Technologies

Tuesday, June 20th from 7-8pm.  Mia Jackson, from the University of Oregon’s Museum of Natural and Cultural History, will be here for a program called Engineer It! Exploring Ancient Technologies.

Build and shelter, design a boat, weave a  shoe, or invent a fishing tool!  Native American people have always used science and engineering to create effective tools, homes, clothing, cooking methods and more- passing this knowledge down through generations.  Many of these innovations are still being used today.  Try out your own engineering skills while discovering technologies designed by Oregon’s first engineers.

This one-hour experience is targeted for a family audience with elementary age children and is presented by a museum educator.  The program includes a book reading (Dipnetting with Dad by Willie Sellars)  and a short presentation (15-20 minutes) followed by activity tables offering touchable artifacts and hands-on activities.
