Call to artists and artwork owners!!
Will you help us raise funds for our arts education program?
The third annual December “Gift of Art Show” needs affordable artworks for the sale.
December is the time we ask artists and art owners to help the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture foster arts education in Wallowa County. The third annual Gift of Art December auction and show will make a large collection of affordable art available to community members, with half of the purchase price dedicated to buying supplies, instruction and scholarships for art students. By contributing your valuable talents and artworks to the Gift of Art show, we raise funds from many people who believe that making art and art instruction broadly available is an essential part of our community culture. And everyone has great fun competing for their favorite pieces.
How it works:
Opening Night Silent Auction – Friday, DECEMBER 8, 2017, doors open at 6:30, bidding starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m.
Most works will have an opening bid from $5 to $300. A lower minimum is an option for donated works that do not require an artist’s commission. Attendees will bid on the works in $5 increments for 90 minutes. Art is taken home by the highest bidder at the end of the evening. The artist-donor will receive up to half of the final price. Unsold art will stay on display until the end of the month, priced at the minimum bid price artists provide us.
Artist-supplied original artwork:
All sizes and media are welcome for two-dimensional art , which should be a wall-ready or matted and cellophane-bagged. Three dimensional art should require less than 20×20 display space.
Donated artwork by others:
Anyone who owns artwork and wishes to donate it to the silent auction is welcome to do so provided that 100% of the final price is donated to the education program. Josephy Center will provide a tax letter for the final price.
Works should be delivered to the Josephy Center November 20-29, 2017.
The artists will receive up to 50% of the final price. Donated commissions are welcomed.
We know that “artwork” is called “work” for a reason. The volunteers and staff who make the Josephy Center education program available to our community are extremely grateful to the artists who contribute their creativity and effort to this fund raising effort.
We need to identify interested artists right away. Please indicate your interest in participating by emailing Megan at email@example.com or call 541-432-0505.
