Art Above Abuse Workshop and Exhibit
September 24, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
FreeThe impact of violence on our world, on our communities, and on ourselves, has tangled roots that run deep— detangling those roots through self-expression is, for many, a path toward healing and reclamation. For this year’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Safe Harbors has teamed up with the Josephy Center and local artist Pam Beach to offer painting classes as a space for participants to explore how violence or abuse has impacted their lives.
Open to anyone, with a limited space of only ten spots available, the class is free and materials will be provided. Participants will have the chance to showcase what they create throughout the month of October in order to spur awareness and discussion, and there will be a closing wine and cheese ceremony to celebrate the artists at the end of the month.
Let’s gather together in solidarity for a world free from violence and create and witness art as an act of resistance.
Art class: September 24th, 5-7 p.m., and continuing on September 25th 10 a.m.-2 p.m., with a lunch break.
Closing reception: October 20th, 6-8 p.m.
