Art Photography Basics
August 7, 2015 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm$95
A one-day workshop on Friday, August 7 from 12 to 5 p.m. Cost is $95. Bring DSLR camera and camera manual (if possible). Taught by Josephy Board President – Kendrick Moholt.
Most beginning art classes start with color theory. However, this is rarely the case with photography and that’s a mistake. Therefore, we will start with a hands-on exercise using watercolor pigments to gain a true understanding of what color is. We will discuss tone, contrast, dynamic range and issues that should be understood and considered before taking a photo and when processing that image. Then we will go over the tools your camera provides to make the best use of the light coming from your subject. These will include the histogram, the ISO, the f-stop and shutter speed. We will work on using the best focus technique selected by YOU not the camera. We will go over the need to shoot in RAW. And, finally we will come full circle to color theory and talk about white balance and what you should do in post processing to make the most of your photos! Please bring your camera gear (and manual). We will have some one on one time to go over the settings that will give you the most from your equipment.
