October 13, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join us at Fishtrap in the Bowlby Building on Main Street in Enterprise, Oregon. For a special book discussion with Award Winning Author Tina Ontiveros.

The Josephy Center and Safe Harbors are jointly sponsoring a “community read” of Tina Ontiveros’ award-winning memoir, Rough House. The author will be at the new Fishtrap space, the Bowlby Building on Main Street in Enterprise, on Thursday, October 13, at 7:00 pm. The event is free and open to the public
Rough House is a brutally honest and beautifully written memoir of abuse–with all the nuances of affection, love, and hurt. It is set in the Northwest, with stops in travel trailers and semi-permanent campsites in the woods, with semi-regular school time in the Dalles, Oregon on the poor side of town. The book was a finalist for the Oregon Book Awards and winner of a Pacific Northwest Book Award.
The author was born in Idaho and raised below the federal poverty line, living mostly with her single mother at the edge of the Oregon desert, but often with her migrating dad in small timber towns across the Northwest. She is the first person in her family to go to college and she did so while raising her children. After community college she earned her BA in Literature at Marylhurst University, then her MFA in Nonfiction Writing from Goddard College.
Books are available at the  Bookloft and at the Josephy Center with a 15% book group discount. Books will be available at tte October 13 event.
Contact Rich Wandshneider at the Josephy Center or Mel Sharp at Safe Harbors for more information.
