Ceramics Studio Rules:
- Respect the Space: Treat the ceramics studio with care and respect. Clean up after yourself, wash, dry and put away all tools.
- Clay Handling: Only use cone 5/6 clay purchased from the studio. Label personal clay clearly and store it separately from studio materials.
- Cleanliness: Keep your workspace clean and organized. Wipe down tables, equipment, and surfaces after use. Dispose of clay scraps and other waste in designated bins.
- Glazing: Use only cone 5/6 glazes in the studio. Put paper down to protect workspace while glazing. Clean up any spills immediately. Label your work clearly before glazing.
- Kiln Usage: Ensure pieces are labeled and properly dried and prepared for firing. Pay firing fees based on kiln space used. (see price chart)
- Respect Others: Be considerate of fellow artists and their work. Avoid disturbing others while they are working. Do not touch or handle others’ pieces without permission! Keep noise to a minimum to maintain a conducive working environment for all. Use headphones when listening to music or podcasts.
- Studio Equipment: Use studio equipment and tools responsibly. Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment to studio staff immediately. Tools may not be taken out of the studio. Basic sets are available for purchase in the Art Shop.
- Children and Guests: Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult. Guests are welcome to observe but must adhere to studio rules and regulations.
- Emergency Procedures: Familiarize yourself with emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits. Report any safety concerns to studio staff promptly.
- Respect Studio Hours: Adhere to studio hours and avoid working outside of designated times. Prepare to finish and clean up 15 minutes prior to end of open studio time.
