Out of the desire to bring communities together, Afrosonics creates music featuring a collective of musicians from the Middle East, Europe, Africa, South America and the United States. At the heart of the group’s progression, the band has conscientiously integrated new American musicians (former refugees from war torn areas of the world) into the collective that is Afrosonics. The genre twist deepens with the infusion Idaho musicians into the collective with roots in country, rock, jazz and opera. In a world of negative messages, we represent a positive hope to bring a harmonious voice to all. Since their inception in the summer of 2013, Afrosonics has performed at World Village Festival & Treefort Music Fest. Partnering with Global Lounge to bring music to charitable events with the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights, Agency for New Americans, and Open Arms Dance Project (a community of dancers with diverse bodies, ages, and abilities). Afrosonics wrote and performed, “Stand Up (The Upstanders)” as part of an anti-bullying curriculum taught to 2nd graders throughout Idaho and represented Idaho in 2020 for The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts ARTS ACROSS AMERICA.
