Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to join Judith Baumann, Master Printer, from Crow’s Shadow in this Fine Art Broadside Workshop. Ms. Baumann is a highly skilled Tamarind Institute trained printer who has taught printmaking at numerous universities, colleges and art centers. Her work is shown in solo and group exhibitions across the country. She has received numerous awards, and is a nationally recognized expert in lithography, letterpress, and digital integration in print.
A Broadside is an art print that incorporates imagery and printed text, typically highlighting a poem or short piece of prose. In this two-day workshop students will bring a short quote, mantra, slogan or advertisement. We will use a letter press with wooden movable type to print the words on a large sheet of paper. Then students will carve an image into a linoleum block. We will roll ink on the block and use an etching press to add the image to the paper. You will leave this class with several copies of your fine art Broadside. Donate one copy to the Josephy Center for sale and receive a gold star and round of applause!
This is a class for beginners as well as experienced printmakers, artists and writers.
Advanced registration mandatory to assure materials are available. We will take a break as the work flow allows. Bring a sack lunch or plan to grab something from a Main Street shop.
