Slideshow Presentation of Tatshenshini-Alsek Park by Mike Baird

Five friends of Wallowa County went north this past August to float the remote Tatshenshini and Alsek Rivers. The two week float began in the Yukon, continued into British Columbia, and ended in Dry Bay, Alaska. The entire journey is encompassed within three national parks and is a designated World Heritage Site.

Learn to Play the Mountain Dulcimer w. Heidi Muller

Josephy Center for Arts & Culture 403 N Main St, Joseph, OR, United States

Heidi Muller teaches all the basics of playing the dulcimer in this five-week workshop. Students can typically play one or two simple songs by the end of the first lesson. Music includes traditional tunes and familiar songs, as students progress from one-finger melodies to using chords. No musical experience required!

Tamkaliks: Nez Perce Wallowa Homeland

Kellee Sheehy and Jacy Sohappy from Nez Perce Wallowa Homeland will show their video on the development of Tamkaliks, the annual July powwow and celebration on the Homeland grounds.

Reading of Temperance Creek by Pam Royes

It’s hard to think that it’s been almost eight years since Pam Royes published Temperance Creek: A Memoir, and harder yet to think that it’s been near fifty years since she rode into Hells Canyon with a restless Vietnam vet from Eastern Oregon named Skip, and they set off on their life adventure.

Youth Music Recital

The piano students of Amy Fairchild and the violin students of Robyn Burns will be giving a recital on February 13th at 6:00 pm. This performance is free and open to the public!

Josephy Fest

Josephy Fest is back! 2 Days of Music and Movement in Deep Winter. Featuring Yoga, Qi-Gong, Jazz, Afrobeat, Soul and Folk Music. 12 artists total, headlined by Julia Keefe - Nez Perce jazz quartet.

Tuesday Talks this month relate to the exhibit theme, "Feminine Visions: Embracing Strength and Adventure." On Tuesday, March 5, Nora Hawkins will talk about her adventures in Antarctica.

Nez Perce artist Carla Timentwa open house and artist talk!

At noon on Thursday, March 14, the Josephy Center welcomes a special exhibit of work by Nez Perce artist Carla Timentwa with an open house and artist talk. The exhibit features fabric arts, including traditional basket hats. FREE.

Wallowa Plein Air Painters: Pre-Season Social!

Tony Chiotti will do a short workshop on mixing a wide variety of greens from a limited palette, so we'll have a chance to move some paint around. Plus we'll do a bit of show-and-tell. Bring your outdoor setup: easel, prochade box, umbrellas, whatever you like to work with. A chance to talk a little shop and learn some new ideas about working outdoors. FREE

Wallowa Lake–The REAL Story by Joan Gilbert

Join Joan Gilbert Tuesday April 16th for a showing of the animated film (6 minutes) and the Behind the Scenes film (17 min)! Joan will be discussing working with kids on a large art project and answering questions.

Olan Fulfer: Adventure in India

Olan Fulfer teaches history and forestry at Joseph Charter School, He has recently begun volunteering in far off places on his school breaks, Last year he spent time in Africa; this spring break Olan and wife Tessa went to India.
