We are honored to have master printmaker Lisa Mackie here as our first printmaking Artist-in-Residence. On Wed., July 26, at noon, Lisa will speak about her career, techniques, inspiration and more. She will do a slideshow presentation and the event will be presented live on YouTube or you may attend in-person.
Lisa Mackie is our 2019 printmaking residency award winner, based in New York. Lisa will be an Artist in Residence at Josephy Center from Mid-July through Mid-August, 2023. Her work will be on display in our main gallery July 27th- August 1st.
In her exhibition “Rondo” a term in reference to a musical form that contains a principal theme which alternates with one or more contrasting themes, Mackie explores the process of visual memory, evolving imagery, and continuous motion through her journey in India in 1999.
The festival is the largest juried fine art exhibition in Eastern Oregon, featuring representational realism as well as contemporary art from the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

Every year the Josephy Center celebrates Wallowa County’s natural beauty through a Wild Landscape Exhibit - this year we want to celebrate the beauty and the diverse landscape of what we colloquially refer to as "the North Country".
The Josephy Center is super stoked to host artist in residence from New York city, Lisa Mackie, for a two-day comprehensive printmaking workshop exploring waterbase drypoint with carborundum aquatint. This is an opportunity, not to be missed!

A community exploration through art, science, and story-telling, of how Wallowa County and NE Oregon communities and landscapes are changing, from climate’s influence, to human and wild populations, to scenery, landscape and health... and what those changes mean to us. Join us for an abstract painting class with Cheryl Coughlan. Paint on a 30"x30" canvas. Beginners are welcome. Learn techniques of how to put paint on the canvas, composition and more. Bring your friends or come alone and meet people who want to throw paint around. We welcome snacks, drinks and conversation. After painting, we do a little discussion about the art we created.
