What is a wild landscape? One thing that makes Eastern Oregon so special is untouched and undeveloped landscapes. The Wild Landscape exhibit will celebrate Northern Wallowa County's diverse and wild lands. This means the landscape is the focal point, no human-made objects visible in the art works.

The Josephy Center for Arts and Culture is thrilled to announce the return of Missoula Children’s Theatre to Wallowa County with the production of The Emperor’s New Clothes, adapted by Jim Caron and Matt Loehrke and Music and Lyrics by Jim Caron, Michael McGill, Greg Boris and Amy Ellis. Mike is an author-illustrator of fiction and nonfiction graphic novels, including the Star Scouts series for First Second. He has also illustrated a middle grade novel. In addition to making comics, Mike has created several pieces of public art for his hometown of Portland, Oregon.

Jennifer grew up in Northern Wallowa County on a ranch. Herding sheep, working cattle, working in wheat fields. She studied Art, Science and Education at the University of Oregon receiving a BS, MS and MFA. She enjoys teaching, especially the next generation, sharing her gifts and insights helping to inspire creativity in others.

We are honored to have master printmaker Lisa Mackie here as our first printmaking Artist-in-Residence. On Wed., July 26, at noon, Lisa will speak about her career, techniques, inspiration and more. She will do a slideshow presentation and the event will be presented live on YouTube or you may attend in-person.
In her exhibition “Rondo” a term in reference to a musical form that contains a principal theme which alternates with one or more contrasting themes, Mackie explores the process of visual memory, evolving imagery, and continuous motion through her journey in India in 1999.
The Josephy Center is super stoked to host artist in residence from New York city, Lisa Mackie, for a two-day comprehensive printmaking workshop exploring waterbase drypoint with carborundum aquatint. This is an opportunity, not to be missed!
